Principal's Message

Every student at Auburn West deserves the very best education possible. Our goal is to ensure that our teaching and learning programs are of the highest quality, with a special focus on literacy and numeracy. We also aim to ensure our students are safe and happy and that we always look to improve what we do. Below are other important issues in our school this year:

Building the Education Revolution (BER)
The Commonwealth Government’s stimulus program of spending in schools, the BER project, has allocated substantial funds to our school. The old silver section of the school’s security fence (approx 100m) has been replaced by the more attractive green security fencing, as is currently around the rest of the school. A new operable wall has been installed in the library to petition the computer lab from the rest of the library to enable simultaneous lessons to be taught. We will also install as many Interactive Whiteboards (Smartboards) as possible in classrooms. Lastly, a new two-storey building will be constructed, containing 6 new classrooms.

Our 75th Anniversary
This year marks the 75th anniversary of our great school. The celebration date is Thursday 24th September. This will be a wonderful event in the history of our school. There will be past students and teachers, special memorabilia, old photos, stalls, rides, multicultural food stalls, kite flying and much more. We will also be constructing a commemorative pathway. Everyone is invited to purchase a paver for permanent display on the path.

New Study Centre
Welcome to the many students and parents who have joined us at our new after school ‘Study Centre’. The current focus for the centre is on supporting our Afghani community. The centre operates every Monday afternoon from 3 to 5pm and is proving to be a great success!

Auburn West Stars
This year we have introduced special ceremonies to present our very first Star Badges. Star Badges are only presented to students who are always very well behaved and who help to make our school a wonderful place to learn and teach by upholding our school values: RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, CARE, PARTICIPATION & PRIDE. Their names are included in regular newsletters because we are extremely proud of them!

Air Conditioning Installed
We have completed the final stage of air-conditioning all our classrooms. Our students can now focus on their learning in a comfortable environment in every classroom in the school.

School Environment & Gardens
Thank you to the many parents who have commented on how lovely the school is looking. Obviously we put most of our time and energy into educating our students but a great deal of time and effort also goes into maintaining and beautifying our school grounds. We appreciate your kind comments.
